    ALIGHT Horn of Africa is an international humanitarian and development organization that assists displaced people to move from vulnerability to resilience, from impoverishment to a basic level of well-being, and from exclusion to inclusion. 

    The overall objective of ALIGHT Horn of Africa is to broaden opportunities for disadvantaged communities in (particularly women and youth) to pursue a secure and sustainable livelihood; create an environment that enables social and economic re-integration of Somali youth into society through technical, vocational and leadership skills development that enables young people to secure gainful employment; sustainably rehabilitate through social transformation and economic empowerment; respond to recurring emergencies and help build resiliency of communities through strengthening of existing social services such as health and water facilities/structures and support creation of durable solutions for returnees through a set of integrated activities aimed at socio-economic reintegration into their country and communities of origin.

    PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    ·       Overall responsibility for the delivery of  hospital via EPHS

    ·       Conducts elective, emergency and management of all obstetrics complications (e.g.Caesarian-sections).

    ·       Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient

    ·       Care for and treat woman during, natal and post-natal periods

    ·       Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical histories, reports, and examination results;

    ·       Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients;

    ·       Monitor patients’ condition and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary;

    ·       Perform cesarean sections or other surgical procedures as needed to preserve patients’ health and deliver babies safely;

    ·       Treat diseases of female organs.

    ·       Maintain close working relationship with other stakeholders working for mother and child health, to ensure integration of child health programs.

    ·       Organize on-job training for doctors, midwives, nurses and auxiliary staff.

    ·       Together with MOH Hirshabelle/health officer/manger will assume the highest technical  responsibility for the delivery of curative services and preventive services from hospital

    ·       Responsible for coaching and training facility staff on technical matters;

    ·       Supervises activities of hospital team- nursing, doctors, pharmacy, Delivery, ANC/PNC section

    ·       Conducts performance appraisal of his staff

    ·       Participates in regular meetings conducted by the ALIGHT/MOH Hirshabelle

    ·       Submits monthly epidemiological reports concerning all department to Health officer/manager and district medical officer and participates in the analysis of epidemiological data;

    ·       Participates in the conduction of studies and surveys; Together with Health project officer/manager, MOH, and other senior technical staff organizes in-service training of technical facility  personnel and participates in the training

    Skills and Qualifications

    EDUCATI

    EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED 

    • Qualified Medical Doctor with clinical experience in Obsteteric and Gynocology  
    • Masters degree will be additional value
    • Previous experience within a humanitarian aid organisation.
    • Ensure to deliver Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS)
    • Minimum 3- 4 years experience in hospital working and has a previous record of performing surgery.
    • Ability and flexibility to understand the cultural and political environment and  to work well with local health personnel
    • Training experience and community education skills
    • Ability to write clear and concise reports
    • Able to work under pressure.
    • Ability to work with a team and excellent communication skills
    • A team player
    • Strong communication skills, with written and spoken English
    • Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different functions
    • Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues
